Peyton and Emelie.png

Our Trainer

Emelie Lesher is passionate about training horses and riders.  She is an accomplished horsewoman with a reputation for being able to work with all types of horses including troubled horses, restarting horses off the track and accepting horses of various breeds as well as managing her small breeding operation.  She has successfully started and campaigned horses from the ground up, from unstarted seven year olds to babies from the ground up.

Seeing the best in each horse and striving to bring out the best is a process she truly enjoys.  She takes great satisfaction in taking the time needed to develop happy, willing horses and riders with goals of showing as well as simply enjoying their horses.  Emphasis on intentional horsemanship, ground work and classical dressage are a critical part of the foundation in the training process for every horse and rider in her program.

Emelie started riding at the age of four, and her love of Eventing started when she saw cross-country on TV during the Olympics.  She has worked for US Olympian Phillip Dutton and makes it a point to learn from great horsemen across multiple disciplines such as Jimmy Wofford, Karen O'Connor, Lucinda Green, William Fox Pitt, Laurie Hedlund, Sinead Maynard, Boyd Martin, Mike Huber and Karl Mikolka.  Along with her love for galloping cross-country, she also truly loves and appreciates the art of Dressage, and believes that building a relationship with your horse is of utmost importance.

Emelie enjoys many disciplines and is proud to be a well-rounded equestrian, with her heart remaining in Three Day Eventing.

Our Owner

Peyton Porter began riding at age eight in the Dallas area doing the hunters. When she enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, she brought her horse to Norman with her and boarded at an event barn and fell in love with the discipline.  After graduation, she and her husband, Justin, moved to North Carolina where she was able to experience the equestrian life on the east coast.  Upon her arrival back to Oklahoma in 2013, she brought back a vision of the facility she wished to build.

In 2017, she and her husband purchased the property that was to become Summer Hills Farm.  Alongside the Leshers, they have worked to bring the vision to life.  In addition to the development of the farm, Peyton enjoys improving her riding and horsemanship, without major competitive goals.  She is happy just to share her farm with others, and to create a community of like-minded horse people.
